How’s it going Octoposse?#
A lot has happened since our last update, the biggest being that we are participating in the
Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs Accelerator, Powered by Techstars! In case you are not familiar with the concept of “accelerator”, it’s a startup boot camp program that aims to help the team scale quickly in a few months. Normally it provides small investment, connections, mentorship, and educational components. We are very excited to join Techstars (one of the top accelerators in the US) to refine Octobo, as well as work with mentors from all different parts of Comcast NBCUniversal’s businesses.
To give you an idea of how competitive it is to get into the program, it has a 1 to 2% acceptance rate, which is even lower than Harvard or Stanford! 😲 We are incredibly honored to be selected to join this program, community, and will be sure to keep you all updated on the inky details.
Commonly Asked Questions 🤔#
We just wanted to address some of the most commonly asked questions here:
Q: What tablet sizes does Octobo hold?
A: All 7-8 inches tablet, such as the iPad Mini, Amazon Fire 7, HD8 and the kid’s version tablets, as well as multiple Android tablets.
Q: Does Octobo come in multiple sizes?
A: Unfortunately, not currently. However, a lot of you have inquired about this, and we will keep this feedback in mind as we enter research and development for our second plush!
A lot of you had been asking when will the items ship. we want to let you know that we are working hard to get everything in time! In order to have a better idea when the product will be ready to ship, we need to pass certain certifications and tests - and sometimes it will take multiple revisions to pass the requirement. As we go through the manufacturing process, we will be sure to keep all of you lovely backers updated.
Thank you all for helping us make Octobo, and future plushies, even better. 😊
NASA & The Science of Play! #
For those of you who are interested in the science behind play, here is a good read for you!
"NASA creativity test results show 98 percent of four- and five-year-old kids scored near genius level. That drops to two percent for adults."
How can we sustain a level of creativity with our children that stay with them into adulthood? With Octobo, we help to increase those results and maintain creativity in children that last them for life!
