Hi Octopi!
Since we last talked, there have been some big changes with Octobo and our team, Thinker-Thinker, that we are incredibly excited to announce!
The first of which is that our team has the amazing opportunity to partner with Universal Pictures on a licensing arrangement that combines our innovative play platform with their iconic cast of DreamWorks Animation characters!
Our collaboration of characters will potentially include those from classic films like Shrek and Kung Fu Panda, as well as potentially many other favorites from DreamWorks Animations’ latest and future animated series!
We are very excited that DreamWorks believes in our vision, and wants to help us grow our brand. As our loyal backers, we will make sure you get the first handed news from us. 😊
You can learn more about our demo day announcement here.
Our team’s mission has always been to transforms kids’ screen time to quality, active play time. The character-based learning platform we are building with the support from YOU will be at the forefront of a new generation of tech toys that blends traditional tactile play and digital interaction.
Thank you again for all the constant support throughout our journey. Without you, we would not have been able to build something so amazing that big studios would want to be apart of it!
Since last time, we have started to explore the feasibility of adding a very fun feature on Octobo for you - for him to recognize his own body! 😲
Before this, Octobo could only detect the kids’ interactions such as hugging, handshakes, and other forms of touch. We thought it will be even cooler though if Octobo could recognize himself clapping or touching his head, which will unlock a brand new layer of fun for kids! We are currently under R&D of this feature, and so far has been looking pretty optimistic. Stay tuned to our November update for the result of our testings!
On the more technical side, our mechanical design has been finalized, and we are entering the tooling phase very soon. We added a track to make the attachment point of the Battery / PCB box with the plush even tighter. Here are some 3D image of the battery/ PCB box that will be hidden inside Octobo’s body!
While you all might remember the old book cover for our Underwater Adventure storybook, we have since updated the design to make it even more adorable! Let us know what you think and if you love the new cover .
As we get closer to delivering Octobo to your homes, we have been working on our packaging design for the plush and two books!
Packaging speaks a lot about a product and your first thoughts on it, so thus it is important to us to put a lot of thought into our packaging design. From materials, to the type of boxes, to how to design the padding inside so it holds all elements better, we are working closely with the factories to figure out the best design for our Octopus friend! 🐙
We have had several people reach out to us recently to update their addresses, and we just want to clarify again that we will be sending out a survey soon via a system called Backerkit! When we send this survey out, you will be able to update your latest address directly. We will send out the survey in the next two months, and thank you again for all the patience, we promise the upgraded version of Octobo will be worth all the wait!
Love,
Team Octobo ❤️
